Throughout the first half of 2024, Speedcast teams around the world have been busy completing exciting hybrid connectivity deployments for customers, helping to make high-availability service and 100% uptime a reality for operations in even the most remote locations.
Most recently, the addition of OneWeb to our portfolio has enabled us to offer high-reliability LEO connectivity as part of a multipath service, with guaranteed performance and security that customers demand. Service is deployed with our SIGMA network management platform, integrating LEO, GEO, and MEO VSAT, L-band and cellular paths into a seamless wide-area network. Check out our SIGMA microsite to learn more about how we apply route diversity and automation to deliver 100% uptime under even the most challenging conditions.
As an authorized Global Distribution Partner and Integrator for both OneWeb and Starlink, our team has thousands of multipath installations under our belt that include the latest LEO connectivity options. For instance, we recently deployed OneWeb as primary service for four state-of-the-art, semi-submersible drilling rigs, backed by Starlink in a multipath solution meeting the communication needs of operational applications, safety and IoT monitoring. The SIGMA integration also bonds Ku- and C-band VSAT, LTE and Iridium Certus for out-of-band network management.
The team also completed one of the most remote OneWeb installations to-date in the harsh conditions of Northern Greenland for one of our longest-standing customers of more than 20 years! This is a testament to not only the capability of the service, but to our field services team and their ability to go into the most rugged places and deliver for customers when they need it most.
And most recently, our passenger maritime team supported a yacht customer deployment in Europe that was delivered to the vessel owner in June. The custom OneWeb deployment was integrated to align with the look and feel of the yacht, with our SIGMA platform bringing together the OneWeb service with Starlink and LTE for a hybrid solution.

Speedcast Inaugurates New Teleport Facility Serving as LATAM Gateway for Eutelsat OneWeb
In June, Speedcast hosted an inaugural event to celebrate a new purpose-built teleport facility in Cali, Colombia, that now serves as the ground infrastructure gateway in Latin America for Eutelsat OneWeb. Speedcast secured a long-term agreement with OneWeb to develop and operate the facility, located in Zonamerica, a free-trade zone in Colombia to support services for the company’s low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation.
The agreement between Eutelsat OneWeb and Speedcast’s local entity began in January 2022, and final antenna installations were completed in late 2023, with the site fully operational in December. The facility includes 15 antennae critical to supporting Eutelsat OneWeb LEO services for customers. The facility also holds a Tier 4 Data Center classification, which is recognized as the best-performing level based on internationally standardized rankings that indicate the reliability of data center infrastructure. The unique location provides unrestricted line of sight for tracking spacecraft across the sky, as well as redundant power and connection with the main telecommunications companies of the region. Learn more about the new facility in our recent press release.
Speedcast Donates Antenna Kits and Airtime to Aid First Responders of Brazil Flooding
In May, the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul was impacted by devastating flooding, receiving a year’s worth of rain in a matter of hours which led to fatalities, widespread landslides, and the collapse of a dam. To support disaster response and recovery, Speedcast donated Starlink terminal kits and airtime to the local government in the wake of the region’s worst flooding in more than 80 years.
